Mac OS X 10.2.6 (Jaguar "Black") is an update for Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) that was released by Apple Computer on May 6, 2003.
General Enhancements[]
According to Apple Computer, the following items saw some of the enhancements that were delivered along with the update:
- Address Book
- Graphics
- OpenGL
- PCMCIA (PC Card) device compatibility
- Printing
- USB hub device compatibility
Specific Enhancements[]
Compatibility for Maya Auto Paint and Paint Effects features was improved; so was printing for PostScript OpenType fonts. Cases where, under Mac OS X 10.2.5, a kernel panic could appear if certain USB hubs or USB devices were connected, as well as occurrences of kernel panics after reinserting an ejected PC Card after the Mac wakes up from sleep, were fixed.
An issue in Mac OS X 10.2.5, where English was the default language, and Asian language scripts were unavailable in the International pane of System Preferences if a script's font was not available, was fixed.
Game-wise, compatibility was improved for MacSoft Unreal Tournament 2003 on Macintosh computers with GeForce 2MX and GeForce 4MX graphic accelerators.
The Address Book now supports the Sony Ericsson T610 mobile telephone. Also, iTunes 4 display fonts are now anti-aliased (as expected; this was formerly not the case at times).
Finally, issues were addressed for Mac OS X 10.2.5 where a file could appear damaged after copying via an AFP sharepoint (unless it was moved to a local volume following the copy), as well as cases where an authenticated connection to a Microsoft Windows 2000 server was not made if Microsoft UAM 1.0.2 was installed. Also, an issue in which certain bitmapped fonts could not be printed to a PostScript printer by means of the LaserWriter 8 compatibility path, was fixed.
