Mac Studio is a compact desktop computer workstation developed by Apple and introduced on March 8, 2022. It officially became available through retail on the following March 18th, though some early customers were able to obtain units ahead of schedule.[1][2]

The Mac Studio is based on a taller Mac mini design with the Apple M1 Max or Ultra processors with greater performance than models of the 3rd-generation Mac Pro. The majority of the interior volume is dedicated to a cooling system designed to maintain the thermal envelope with little noise. It also features USB4 ports with support for 4K displays as well as the 27-inch 5K Studio Display.[3]

Internal SSD[]

The internal SSD is available in capacities ranging from 512 MB to 8 GB. Contrary to earlier reports, it is on a daughtercard and is not soldered to the logic board. The Mac Studio actually contains two slots for internal storage.[4] The SSD is interchangeable between Mac Studios, but if the drive's capacity does not match what the system originally shipped with, it will not be recognized.[5]
