The Centris series was a very short-lived line of Macintosh computers that was introduced and discontinued in 1993. The name indicated that it was positioned in the "center" of Apple Computer's product line, between the consumer grade LC / Performa series and the professional grade Quadra series. The machines were based on the 68040-series of processors from Motorola. Only 3 models were made before Apple discontinued the line.[1]

Discontinuation[]
Apple discontinued the Centris line of computers and merged them into the Quadra line within the same year. The design and model numbers remained the same, but the 610 and 650 were upgraded from the 68LC040 to full 68040's with floating-point units and increased clock speeds.
