The iPod is manufactured by Apple Computer, Inc. It has since been enhanced into a smaller, less bulky size, has many 'descendants' including the iPod mini, iPod shuffle, iPod nano, iPod with video, and a special signed U2 edition, and is currently the most popular MP3 Player in the world. However the iPod will play many kinds of formats including AAC, Apple Lossless, AAC Protected, MP3, M4P, and many others. The iPod has many accessories available including cases, FM transmitters, and special docks. These accessories are a major part of the iPod halo, which is the money that is gained by manufacture of iPod accessories (and the iPod itself). The iPod halo effect ensures that the iPod will be around for years to come.
