the iPod

Since its introduction to the public on October 23rd, 2001, the sleek little white hard-drive-that-plays-music has rapidly risen to not only dominate the consumer electronics market, but redefine it. The iPod has captured a few design awards, forged a new language, and launched a vibrant culture. Whether it's loved or hated, it is at the forefront of the multimedia market the world over.

This wiki strives to diagram the factors that make the iPod and its progeny such a cultural icon and a market success, as well as demonstrate and explain the array of components, terms, and peripherals associated with it.
