The Mighty Mouse is an input device that was designed by Apple Computer and released on August 2, 2005 for its desktop Mac lineup. It was also available in a wireless version, and the wired version was later renamed Apple Mouse.[1]
Features[]
The Mighty Mouse featured a tiny trackball for scrolling and two side buttons. The original wired version was connected through USB.[1] The trademark was licensed from Viacom Inc.[2]
Wireless version[]
On July 25, 2006, a wireless version was introduced using Bluetooth technology, like the Apple Wireless Keyboard.[2] The wireless Mighty Mouse was replaced by the multi-touch-capable Magic Mouse on October 20, 2009.[3]
Discontinuation[]
With the discontinuation of the wireless version, the remaining wired Mighty Mouse was renamed the Apple Mouse and remained on the market (and as a bundled item with desktop models) until June 5, 2017.
