The MiniFinder debuted with Macintosh System 2.0 in April 1985. Some consider it to be a predecessor to At Ease.

Usage[]

To use MiniFinder, first select the applications for it to have access to in a Finder window. Then, while those applications are still selected, choose Use MiniFinder from the Special menu.[1]

When this was done, the user would return to the MiniFinder instead of the ordinary Finder after quitting an application. Applications made available to MiniFinder could be launched by double-clicking the icon in a simple dialog box. This process reduced time in switching between applications when memory was scarce and loading the regular Finder from a floppy drive was a slow process.[1]
