Heinen previously held the same roles as the chief legal officer of NeXT, organizing the acquisition and merger of the company into Apple; she replaced Edward B. Stead at Apple after the acquisition. Heinen stepped down from Apple in 2006, followed by former CFO and board member Fred Anderson, in the fallout from an investigation into the backdating of Apple stock options at the company.[1] Donald Rosenberg joined Apple later in the year to become the new general counsel and secretary.[2]
