The Newer Technology MicroDock is series of lightweight portable docking devices that were marketed by Newer Technology for the PowerBook Duo line from Apple Computer.[1][2]

Features[]

Based on the design of Apple's Duo Floppy Adapter, the MicroDocks interfaced with PowerBook Duo notebooks through the custom 152-pin docking connector. Instead of a motor or lever, a small button was used to release the device. Each MicroDock included a single Apple Desktop Bus (ADB) port along with the following, depending on model:[2][3]

  • Color MicroDock: DA-15 port for 8-bit color video and 3.5mm audio jack for external speakers.
  • Ethernet MicroDock: RJ45 10BASE-T Ethernet port.
  • Floppy MicroDock: HDI-20 port for an external floppy.
  • PC Card MicroDock: Slot for a PCMCIA card.[4]
  • SCSI MicroDock: HDI-30 port for external SCSI devices.

Support[]

The MicroDocks are known to support all PowerBook Duo models, but Ethernet support requires the installation of software drivers.[5][6]
