Notes is an app developed by Apple and included with iOS, iPadOS, and macOS to allow users to make, share and delete notes from iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other Apple devices. Notes app has been part of iPhone OS and iOS since the original iPhone and was later added to OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion). Notes can be synced using cloud services such as iCloud and Gmail.
Editing[]
Notes on iOS can only hold text. Notes on Mac allow creation of folders, insertion of images, attachments and hyperlinks, choosing different fonts, text sizes, formatting lists, choosing the alignment (left, center, justify, or right), assigning a writing direction, and indentation of text. They can also be pinned to desktop for easy access.
Sharing[]
Notes on iOS can be shared using AirDrop, Mail, and Messages (SMS and iMessage). Notes can also be copied to clipboard and printed using AirPrint.
History[]
The design of Notes was updated significantly in iOS 7 and OS X 10.9 (Mavericks), which added a user interface. Other versions added AirDrop sharing, AirPrint, copying and iMessage (not to be confused with SMS, which was supported since the original iPhone) sharing. The Notes app also supported Helvetica, Marker Felt, and Noteworthy fonts, though support for the Marker Felt and Noteworthy fonts were removed in iOS 7.
