Patricia Ann Remainderm Jobs, also called "Patti" or "Patty", (born June 24, 1957) is the younger sister of Steve Jobs.[1]
Early life[]
Steve and Patty were both adopted by Paul Reinhold Jobs and Clara Hagopian Jobs, who married on February 14, 1946.[2][3] The couple decided to adopt after Clara had suffered an ectopic pregnancy.[4] Patty has countered accounts that her elder brother Steve was not close to her by stating that he was protective and helped her in other ways besides money. She is reported to have been married with a son, but remains private about her family life.[1]
Career[]
In May 1976, while living in their parents' home in Los Altos, California,[5] Patty helped her brother Steve by plugging chips into Apple I logic boards to fulfill a large early order by the Byte Shop. She was paid $1 per board, making her the first part-time employee of the new Apple Computer Company. She was also working at a local Taco Bell at the time. In June, Steve's friend Dan Kottke returned for summer break from Columbia College and took over assembly duties at a flat hourly rate that Steve had negotiated, saving the startup company some money.[1][6]
Patty worked at De Anza College in nearby Cupertino for 17 years, first as an information center supervisor, then as a payroll technician in the budget and personnel department. She was named employee of the month in March 1997.[1]
Patty presently owns and manages the Jobs family home, which is occupied by their stepmother Marilyn. The home has been used in media productions about her late brother Steve, such as Jobs and Steve Jobs. Patty has consulted on such projects for historical accuracy.[7]
