Peter Crisp, Founding and Managing Partner at Venrock Associates
Peter Ottley Crisp (born August 9, 1932) is an American executive who was the founding and managing partner of Venrock. He was also a member of the Apple Board of Directors.

Early life
Crisp was born to James Vandevanter Crisp and Martha Munn Ottley in New York City and grew up on Long Island.[1]
Education and military service
Crisp received a bachelor's degree in history at Yale University in 1955. He then served for 3 years as an U.S. Air Force intelligence officer at Strategic Air Command. In 1960, Crisp received an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.[1] In July 1963, Crisp married Emily Starr Ridgway in Short Hills, New Jersey.[2][3]
Career

After reading an article about Laurance Rockefeller's venture capital investments, Crisp wrote him a letter and was offered a job to help organize files. Venrock Associates (a contraction of "Venture" and "Rockefeller") was formed in 1969. By 1980, Crisp became president of Venrock; he was the board chairman from 1995 to 1997.[1]
Apple Computer
In 1979, representatives from Apple Computer met with Venrock at the 56th floor of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The Venrock team made a "gut" decision to invest $300,000 in Apple for a 10% stake.[4] In return, Crisp received a seat on the board of directors of Apple in 1980.[5] He stepped down from the board in 1996.[6]
