The PowerBook Duo 280 was a subnotebook from the PowerBook Duo line that was introduced by Apple Computer on May 16, 1994.

The Duo 280 featured a 66/33 MHz Motorola 68LC040 processor with an active matrix 640x400 4-bit grayscale display. The logic board contained 4 MB of RAM which could be upgraded to 40 MB. It also included an improved Type 3 battery. It was compatible with all Duo Dock models.[2]
It shipped with System 7.1.1 (with PowerBook Duo Enabler v2.0) and could be upgraded to Mac OS 8.1.
Upgrade kits[]
Apple offered a PowerBook Duo 280 upgrade kit for owners of the Duo 250 and 270c. It included a replacement logic board with a 66/33 MHz Motorola 68LC040 processor, a new case bottom, stiffener assembly, Duo NiMH Type 3 battery, 36-watt power adapter, miscellaneous parts, and a stick-on label to indicate an upgraded unit.[3]
Pre-existing owners of the Duo 280 or earlier models could upgrade to a 100 MHz PowerPC 603e processor with the PowerBook Duo 2300 upgrade kit.[4]
