The Power Macintosh 6300/120 was introduced on June 27, 1996 as a speed-bumped version of the Power Macintosh 6200/75, with a logic board still based on the LC architecture. It was released in a consumer configuration as the Macintosh Performa 6320.
The Power Macintosh 6300/160, despite the similar name, uses a new PCI-based "Alchemy" architecture like the Power Macintosh 5400, resulting in performance improvements beyond the processor clock speed. It features an L2 cache slot that can be used as a processor direct slot to upgrade it to a PowerPC G3 processor. It was released in a consumer configuration as the Macintosh Performa 6360. It was superseded by the Power Macintosh 6400 tower.
