The Power Macintosh 6400/200 was introduced on October 1, 1996 and was also released in a consumer configuration as the Macintosh Performa 6400. It was superseded by the Power Macintosh 6500.

Features[]

The Power Macintosh 6400 is a tower version of the PCI-based "Alchemy" architecture used by the Power Macintosh 5400 and 6300/160. However, unlike the 5400 and 6300/160, the tower configuration also provides space for a dual riser card that can accept two PCI cards. It also features an L2 cache slot that can be used as a processor direct slot to upgrade it to a PowerPC G3 processor.
