The Power Macintosh 6500 (code named "Gazelle") was a mid-range desktop computer in Apple Computer's Power Macintosh series.

Description[]

The 6500 was introduced in February 1997 with a PowerPC 603ev processor in speeds of 225 and 250 MHz, along with the releases of the Power Macintosh 5500, 7300, 8600, 9600, and PowerBook 3400c, replacing the externally similar Power Macintosh 6400. In April 1997, two faster models at 275 and 300 MHz were added. The Power Macintosh 5500 uses the same logic board in a 5200-style all-in-one case. The 6500 was discontinued in March 1998, with the beige Power Macintosh G3 minitower remaining as the most similar successor.

The Power Macintosh 6500 can run up to Mac OS 9.1, or with a PowerPC G3 update, can run up to Mac OS 9.2.2.
