The Power Macintosh 7600 was a PowerPC 604-based desktop computer sold by Apple Computer between April 22, 1996 and November 10, 1997.

Features[]

The 7600 shared the same external case as the Power Macintosh 7500, but replaced the PowerPC 601 processor with a faster PowerPC 604, which was was mounted on a daughtercard that fit into a slot on the logic board, making user upgrades possible. The Power Macintosh 7600 featured 3 PCI slots and 168-pin DIMM slots for RAM.[1]

Releases[]

The 7600 was introduced at a processor speed of 120 MHz on April 22, 1996, and 132 MHz on August 3, 1996. The 604-based versions were superseded by a 200 MHz PowerPC 604e model on February 17, 1997.

Variants[]

A cheaper version without the AV features was released as the Power Macintosh 7300. The 7300 and 7600 were both superseded by the Power Macintosh G3 on November 10, 1997.
