In computing, a printer is a peripheral device for reproducing text and images on paper or other medium. There are many different types, broadly grouped into "impact printers" and "non-impact printers".[1]

Apple Computer released its first printer, the Silentype in March 1980, leading to a succession of printing product lines. However, co-founder Steve Jobs began discontinuing them all in 1998 after rejoining Apple to return the company to profitability.[2]
