Not to be confused with iTunes Remote.

The Apple TV Remote (formerly a separate app) is part of the Control Center of recent versions of iOS and iPadOS. It allows users to use their iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch like a remote control for their Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.[1]

History[]

The free app was first introduced by Apple for iPhone OS on July 10, 2008 through the newly-opened App Store.[2][3] A 64-bit version was introduced on August 1, 2016. It became integrated into iOS 12, which was released on September 17, 2018. Version 2.2 was the final standalone release on March 26, 2019 and was removed from the App Store in late 2020.[4][5]
