SOHO Notes box

SOHO Notes (formerly StickyBrain) is a note-taking program that was developed by Chronos for Mac OS X. Its predecessor, StickyBrain, had been described as "Stickies on steroids". SOHO Notes has since been superseded by Notelife.

StickyBrain 1 was introduced at Macworld Expo in January 2001.[1] Unlike Stickies, StickyBrain prominently allowed for a categorizable browser. It also possessed a number of other features.

StickyBrain 2 required a PowerPC G3 or greater processor, and supported both Mac OS 9 and X. Despite not having all of the features of version 3, it did feature some less obtrusive palettes (such as for formatting).

StickyBrain 3 was released in Fall 2004 and required Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) or later.

StickyBrain 4 was released in December 2005 and required Mac OS X 10.4.3 (Tiger) or later. SOHO Notes was developed simultaneously from the same code base, and added .Mac synchronization features.

Product migrations[]

In July 10, 2006, Chronos announced that StickyBrain would be replaced by SOHO Notes, with StickyBrain 4 users being offered free upgrades to SOHO Notes 5.5.[2] A "modern" version of StickyBrain was briefly resurrected in 2015 for OS X 10.10 Yosemite or later. However, it too has since been superseded by Notelife, a newer product which was developed by Chronos for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.[3]

Version 9.3.6 is the last full release of SOHO Notes with support for OS X 10.11 (El Capitan). In November 2016, Chronos released SOHO Notes 9.3.7 for macOS 10.12 (Sierra) which is not feature complete and is intended for migration of user data to Notelife.[4]
