The City of San José, also known as the "Capital of Silicon Valley", is a major city about 8 miles (13 km) east of the Cupertino headquarters of Apple Inc. in California. San Jose is home to many technology companies, such as Adobe.


With an estimated population of 1,021,795 as of July 2019, San Jose is the 3rd most populous city in the state of California and the 10th most populous city in the United States.[1] As of 2021, there is 1 Apple retail store in San Jose at the Westfield Oakridge mall.[2]

The older San Jose Civic complex hosted the Spring 1988 Apple Developers Conference while the San Jose McEnery Convention Center was under construction. [3][4] The newer convention center hosted latter conferences, such as Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) from 1989 to 2002, and 2017 to 2019.
