The 1988 Apple Spring Developers Conference, a predecessor to WWDC, was held across the street at the San Jose Civic complex while the new McEnery Convention Center was under construction.[1] Named after former San Jose mayor Tom McEnery, it was opened in 1989.
The 2003 Worldwide Developers Conference was originally scheduled for May 19 to 23 at the McEnery, but was rescheduled to June 23 to 27 and held for the first time at the Moscone Center's West Hall in San Francisco,[2] where future conferences were held until 2016.
The 2020 Worldwide Developers Conference will not be held at the McEnery and will instead be online only due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[3]
