System 6.0.8L was never widely released as a public update by Apple Computer, but was shipped on a limited run of computers in February 1992 to support the Asia Pacific market. As System 7 localization was delayed for high-bit Asian character sets, Apple modified System 6.0.8 to provide support for computers that in other markets required System 7.
Specifically, System 6.0.8L enabled System 6 to run on the Macintosh Classic, Classic II, PowerBook 100, Macintosh LC and Macintosh LC II with high-bit language support and up to date printer support.
