The USB-C to USB adapter is a dongle that allows you to use USB periphirals on MacBooks, other macs, and iPad Pros. It costs US$19. Like the Lightning to 3.5mm adapter, it was highly controversial for removing USB ports from the Macbooks and reselling a single port for US$19, just for it to stick out, making usb thumb drives loose their "thumb drive" feeling. Many people decided to buy a Dock instead of all the Apple dongles.
