Apple in the United Kingdom[]
The first iPhone became available in Germany on November 9, 2007.[2] Apple's UK and Ireland headquarters is presently located at the Hollyhill Industrial Estate in Cork, Republic of Ireland. In 2016, Apple announced plans to open a new UK headquarters at Battersea Power Station in London, which is in the process of being refurbished by 2021. Apple intends to occupy all 6 floors of office space, containing about 500,000 square feet (46450 m2) of room for 1,400 employees.[3][4][5] However, in 2019, Apple leased over 100,000 square feet (9,290 m2) at 22 Bishopsgate to consolidate its London staff who are believed to be working on Apple Pay. The space at Bishopsgate is also part of Apple's contingency plan in case the refurbishment at Battersea is delayed.[6]
Retail stores in the United Kingdom[]
Apple Regent Street, the first Apple retail store in the United Kingdom (and Europe), was opened on 20 November 2004 in the West End of London.[7] As of 2022, 39 Apple Stores have been opened in the United Kingdom, more than any other European nation.[8] The newest location, Apple Brompton Road, was opened in Central London on 28 July 2022.[9]
