Universal 2 apps are fat binaries with support for both 64-bit Intel and Apple processors.
Background
Universal 2 was announced at the 2020 Worldwide Developers Conference.[1] Xcode 12 allows developers to compile application binaries for both processor types.[2] The first operating from Apple to be compiled as a Universal 2 binary is macOS Big Sur.[1]
