The University of California, Berkeley, also known simply as "Berkeley", is a public research university in Berkeley, California, in northern Alameda County near the eastern shore of the San Francisco Bay. With an acceptance rate of 16%, it is ranked as the sixth top public university in the United States.[1]

Students at Berkeley are also known for ending up in leadership roles at major tech companies. The Berkeley Macintosh Users Group (BMUG) was founded on campus in 1984 and at one point became the largest Macintosh user group in the world.[4]
