The Videos app was developed by Apple and released with iOS 5 through 10.1.1 to allow access to video content synced onto iOS devices through iTunes or purchased from the iTunes Store.
History
In iPhone OS 1 through iOS 4, the iPod app had been used for access to audio and video media synced from iTunes; this was split into the Music and Videos apps with the release of iOS 5 in 2011.[1] Restoring the old unified iPod app in iOS 5 was possible, but required jailbreaking.[2]
The Videos app was replaced by the Apple TV app with the release of iOS 10.2 in October 2016.[3] The last version of the Videos app from iOS 10 is still available to download for users in territories where Apple TV+ services are not supported.[4]
