McAfee Total Protection, preceded by Virex and VirusScan, is a suite of anti-virus software and identity theft monitoring services developed by McAfee for Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows.
History[]
Virex was previously published by Microcom, which became Datawatch. Dr. Solomon's acquired Virex on October 10, 1997 and then was itself acquired in 1998 by Network Associates, which is now McAfee.[1][2] Virex 7.2 was included was part of Apple's .Mac service, which was introduced on July 17, 2002.[3]
