Apple Vision Pro, stylized as  Vision Pro, is an augmented reality (AR) headset designed by Apple that was announced on June 5 during the keynote event at the 2023 Worldwide Developers Conference.[1]

Release[]

Pre-orders began at 5 a.m. PT on January 19, 2024, to be released in the United States on the following February 2nd.[2][3] The base model includes 256 GB of solid-state storage at a list price of US$3499. 512 GB or 1 TB versions are available for an additional $200 or $400, respectively. An Apple Vision Pro Battery dongle is included and additional external batteries are available for $199 each.[4] Due to heavy pre-order demand, wait times for the Vision Pro quickly slid into March and April.[5]

AppleCare coverage is available for Vision Pro headsets for US$499. Without such coverage, replacement cover glass alone would cost $799. Replacing the entire headset would cost $299 with AppleCare, or up to $2399 without.[6]

Description[]

Running the visionOS operating system, the Vision Pro is designed to work with supported iPhones, iPads, and Macs. The enclosure contains an array of cameras and sensors, which display the environment to the user through a pair of micro-OLED displays that deliver greater than 4K resolution to each eye. Spatial audio speakers are located in the headstrap, near each ear. Input controls include a top button and a Digital Crown, similar to that on Apple Watches. An external battery dongle provides up to 2 hours of use. It can also be plugged in for continuous use.[1]

The Vision Pro features an Apple M2 chip with 16 GB of unified memory and an Apple R1 to process inputs from all cameras, sensors, and microphones of the device. Some pre-release developer units were configured with 1 TB of storage.[7]
